Rotifer-Artemia-Grow-Out food

Shelf life is about 1 week after mixing (MUST be kept refrigerated)
Dried food MUST also be kept refrigerated

This is a formulated diet that will maintain Rotifer and Artemia populations. Rotifer's and Artemia are "gut loaded" with this food and fed to larval marine animals will also provide some of the essential Highly Unsaturated Fatty Acids that these larvae require.
One big advantage of using this food is that it does not leave any oily films on the surface of the water that would inhibit oxygen diffusion or on the sides of the larval culture tanks that allow bacteria to develop and multiply.

Mixing this food:
The food comes in a dry powder. The mix ratio is 15 gms of food to 500 ml of fresh or sea water. We recommend that you divide the bag into 4 (approx) and mix one quarter with 125 ml of fresh or sea water. The mixed liquid does not last as long as the dry powder. Add 125 ml of fresh or salt water to a screw top container and add the food. ( The container should be larger that 125 ml). Shake the container well then pour the mixture into a liquidizer and liquidize for 2 minutes. Put back in the screw top container and keep refrigerated when not in use.
NOTE: Shake well before use as some of the contents will settle.

Feeding Rotifer's:
Feed enough to just cloud the water - about 0.5 ml to 1 ml /litre of culture water, depending on Rotifer density. Feed again when the water clears. The feeding frequency will vary with the density of the Rotifer population.

Feeding Artemia (Brine Shrimp):
Start feeding Artemia at Instar II. (From 30 hours after you started your culture or at least 12 hours after hatch) Artemia are very inefficient feeders at this stage. Keep the culture water very slightly cloudy at first. As the Artemia grow you can increase the dose or frequency of feeds. It is difficult to say use 'x' ml per litre of culture because it depends on the Artemia's age and density. Keeping the culture water slightly cloud at all times will ensure that there is always food available. You can use this food to grow Artemia to adults. Adults fed on this food are enriched (gut loaded) with a HUFA (Highly Unsaturated Fatty Acids)

Health and Saftey:
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.
For the good of your own Health. DO NOT keep any live culture anywhere that it could come into contact with food or utensils used for human food preparation.
